Every summer has a story - DT - background tutorial

I have made a background photo-tutorial as a DT-member at ARTastic Challenge blog

Please come and visit :)

I am going to show you one way I use to make my own background. It is also a great way to get rid of scraps and leftovers.
First of all I use gesso on my LO.

Then I paste on a lot of stripes with residual paper. I have chosen to keep the colors in the same approximate color being the main color in the LO.

I take a new coat of gesso over the paper strips.
There are many types of gesso to choose from so use what you are used to and likes to use. You can choose to not use gesso, but then you might choose bright, soft colors in the residual paper you use.

When gesso is dry so I start with the colors.
Here I have used three different colors of green Glimmermist. Here you can use watercolors, Distress Ink and water, Distress Stain, other sprays….you name it.

When the colors are dry I use a stencil and Modelling paste.

…when dry….you can decorate your page as you like it :)

Hope you became inspired to try to make your own background :)

I have used:

- gesso
- Glimmermist
- Stencil from Tim Holtz
- unknown patterned paper
- various unknown flowers + resin flowers
- die cut from Tim Holtz and Magnolia Doohickey`s
- wood buttons from Prima
- chipboard butterflies from SnipArt
- metal embellishment from Korthobby.no

Thanks for looking :)

Here is my result:
